A must while in Bangkok!
Outstanding experience! Our tour guide Benjamat and our driver took us on a beautiful adventure that included the summer palace and Ayutthaya. Along the way we had lunch and the opportunity to see the ancient capital of Siam. Transportation was private and clean with cold bottles of water and flower offerings provided as you continued.

Instagrammable Ayutthaya
We saw all of the highlights of each of the temple ruins, but started in the morning with visiting the Royal Summer Palace complex for the royal family today. The best part was our guide, Phacharakrit Wichitwarakul whose nickame is "Kit." He unfolded the stories so that we could understand and experience very best during our Private Ayutthaya Day Tour - including how Kit took pictures of us with Instagramable settings!.

Comfortable and on point tour
The personal touch and individual pace of the tour There was a lot to take in but it was all nicely tailored to our interest and time constraints. The tour managed to indulge us in a wonderful lunch at a local restaurant and took care of all our entrance fees to the venues. Our tour guide Joy was well informed and kept the conversation informative and exciting. Thank you Viator. Keep up the good work.

Horrible guide
The tour itself was ok, but the guide, jackie, not so much. Throughout the day i noticed he was smelling some plastic bottle that smelled like a strong vicky vaporub. Later he told me it was a "thai medicine" for when you are tired, so basically a legal high. On the ride back he was snorting it every 30 seconds, to the point the car was smelling like it after 15min. And then he started talking a lot about bars, girls, massages, really unprofessional and disgusting!!!.

Fantastic Experience
A fantastic trip with a very skilled and careful driver and Aey, the best possible guide. She was so knowledgeable and made it her mission to make me feel comfortable. I learnt so much about Thai history and even Bangkok. I really recommend to start the trip at 7 or 8 am, as the morning is the most peaceful time in Ayutthaya.

Ancient Thai Capital Experience
Wonderful guide and driver! The ancient capital was worth seeing and learning g about. The inclusion of lunch is fine but the restaurant was not a good one and the language barrier got in the way of a better dining experience. Please consider a Fixed Items lunch for this tour. Too much confusion currently.

Excellent tour and guide, average food
Benjamat, our guide, was awesome she was extremely knowledgeable about the area and very flexible with our request to add an extra site to the tour. The car was very clean and the driver was prompt, helpful and safe. The only slight downside of this tour is the food provided is a buffet which was a little disappointing compared to some of the other tours.

Really depends on the guide
The places we went to were wonderful. My issue was with the guide, who seemed to lack professionalism. She asked the driver to stop at an weekend open market. I was happy to see a very local market, versus a tourist-oriented one. However, she started shopping, complete ignoring me, and I ended up waiting for her at the entrance. Fortunately, the driver saw me and called her, and she came running, carrying many bags. At the historical site, I could tell she was tired, and she tried to rush me, but I told her to sit and wait for me as I walked around to take more pictures. I was disappointed with the guide, but I was very impressed with the driver who was much more considerate of me, and that was the reason for the extra star rating...

Guide not to High Standard
Happy with the transportation, however the guide language level (English) and knowledge was very poor. Whilst the guide (Wat) is a nice man, in conversation he revealed he became a guide 3 months ago, securing the job via a friend. He has no guide experience. This was clear during the day trip. He knew very limited and vague information on the sites history and was not able to answer my questions. I basically relied on information around the sites. I was also disappointed with the approach to lunch. We were taken to Mong Doo Ruea Restaurant. Certainly looked nice but our guide Wat informed us our budget was limited to 400 BHT for 2 persons, which eliminated much of the menu. Given the tour costs over 300 EUR (almost 11000 BHT) one would think a sufficient part of that will go towards lunch. In summary - we did not get our money worth. We basically paid 11000 BHT for a driver and entrance tickets, with limitations placed on our lunch and a guide who had insufficient knowledge and grasp of English. If the tour operator reads this review, at the very least they should consider a partial refund. But I doubt they will.

Book this wonderful tour!
It was a great trip to see all of the temples and hear the history. Our guide was very good and she took very good care of us. The van was clean, and comfortable and the driver was safe and patient with base traffic. I would strongly recommend this tour to everyone who has not been there, it was a very worthwhile experience. Lunch was good too!.

English speaking guide lacked language skills
This was a convenient way to explore Ayutthaya - air conditioned car took us to all the sites. Very pleasant driver and guide. The sites are definitely worth visiting. This company delivered the itinerary as promised and lunch was at a local restaurant. The guide was a really nice man called Watch and we learned about life in Thailand and his family on the one hour drive. However, this tour was an expensive way to see Ayutthaya and we had paid the high fee as it meant we would have our own English speaking guide. As nice as Watch was, his English was very limited and it meant he could not share the history of Ayutthaya with us. We certainly couldn’t ask questions as he didn’t understand the questions. He was very keen to photograph us at every temple to prove we had been there, but we could have done that ourselves. Most photos were taken on his phone and he promised to send us the photos by email, but he hasn’t! I’m not really happy that he has all these photos on his phone. I do think that if you book a private tour with an English speaking guide then you really should be able to expect a pretty fluent and knowledgeable English speaker. Being a nice person doesn’t make up for the lack of language skills.

Should have been more organized
The driver and guide were very nice and pleasant. However, no where anywhere in their site do they say that men need to wear pants for the one part of the tour. The guide greeted us at our hotel and noticed we were all wearing shorts and said nothing (when we could easily have run back to our rooms to change as we were ahead of schedule). Then when we get to the first royal temple, she says ‘did you bring long pants?’ So we ended up having to buy them from a vendor in order to get into the grounds. No where on their website or itinerary or ticket does it say ‘long pants or below knee skirts are required’. All the tickets said was ‘wear comfortable running shoes’. The guide quickly paid for them herself as she realized all of these mistakes but it did not set the tone well for the day tour. Also if you are going to rent the golf cart for getting around the royal summer palace which is highly recommended, be sure to bring your driver license from home or they will not let you rent the cart. No where does it say this on any of their information as well. The sites and tour are beautiful and highly recommend that you go. It is NOT for people with any sort of disability as there is a lot of uneven surfaces and stairs. But is stunning. The meal for lunch is average. Nothing to get excited about. So to recap for this tour, long pants for men and long skirts or wraps for women are required for the first part of the tour in the summer palace. After that stop, you can remove them wear regular shorts and clothes for all the other unesco sites on the tour. No dress code. I just wish their site was more informative.

A great visit to Ayutthaya
We had a great day with Nate, our tour guide. He spoke excellent English and was very personable. He also took wonderful photos for us, which is nice since sometimes you hand your phone to someone and you never know if they can take a decent picture. We felt we got an excellent education about Ayutthaya, well worth the all day visit and an easy trip from Bangkok.

Great experience with tour guide Pond at Ayutthaya
Our guide Pond was very professional and knowledgeable. The detail and history provided definitely was worth the value of having a private tour when with this tour guide. Above and beyond our expectations we would have give more than 5 out 5 if we could. Would highly recommend to anyone else if wanting to do this tour and make sure you ask for tour guide Pond.

Memorable & Historic Ayutthaya Full Day Tour
This UNESCO site is nice to visit with many histories and sightseeing. View is good too. We managed to know quite a lot of stories about the palace and the temples that we visited. Our tour guide is very knowledgeable about the places and able to tell us quite in-depth about the history that took place many years ago. Her explanation made us understand a lot about the King, Queen and the war that took place many centuries ago. She is also kind enough to take photos for us and also bought us joss sticks for praying. She also waited for us while we spent some time roaming around. She also introduced to us the local dessert Roti Sai Mai of Ayutthaya and bought us a packet to have a try on it. It was very nice and we will always remember this unique dessert. Overall, the tour was indeed a remarkable one for us.

During the tour, Éhh was very helpful providing water at any time we needed, taken the time for the tour family members as we have our child and seniors with us. Total of 6 people. The vehicle was in very good condition. Our guide was very supportive with all information and knowledge sharing during the tour. I do recommend the tour.

Wonderful tour outside Bangkok
I had the chance to get out from busy noisy Bangkok for a 8-hour relaxing tour to Ayutthaya. The guide, Mrs Aey, was very professional: good knowledge of the history of each wonderful site we have been visiting, with clear explanations. We spent the right time to visit each place. She took pictures of myself with my phone anytime convenient. The restaurant for lunch was a good choice with typical and tasty thai food. In brief, this is a wonderful tour. Worth the price...

Incredible day learning about Thai history and culture while seeing amazing historical sites
We had a spectacular day that exceeded our expectations. Our guide Aey was *amazing* - not only was she an encyclopedia of historical and cultural information about Ayutthaya, she acted as our driver all day, and checked in often to make sure we were having the type of experience we expected, as well as hydrated and fed. In particular we appreciated Aey talking to us about Thai Buddhism as we asked about what we saw in the temples and sites we visited. We were interested in more than just taking pictures and being able to engage with Aey one-on-one added so much to our understanding of Thailand.

Wonderful visit to Ayutthaya
We had a great private tour visiting the Bang Pa-In Royal Palace and 5 temples in Ayutthaya. Each was unique and equally interesting. We were picked up at our Bangkok hotel, taken to a lovely and delicious riverside hotel for lunch, and were back to the hotel by 5 pm. Our tour guide Miss Bejamas or "Puk" was very knowledgable, and her discussions of Thai history, politics, and religions added greatly to our understanding and enjoyment. Our driver was excellent as well. Being able to retreat to the air-conditioned car with cold water was wonderful in between the sunny, hot temple visits.

Great trip to discover the ancient capital of Siam!
We enjoyed a perfect day trip to Ayuatthaya! The guide Err (Miss Supatsara) was so kind and with broad knowledge of history and royal dinasty, she explained us a lot about the sites, we have visited and also about Thai culture and religion. The program of this trip covers really the most possible important archeological sites and temples in Auytthaya, as well as the magnificent Bang Pa-in Palace, must see! Surprising attentions during the trip as sweets, coconut, valuable advice over the Thai cuisine, when choosing our lunch dishes, very professional and kind driver - everything at once to make our day a great experience! Our guide even helped us to quickly organise a longtail boat.

A leisurely informative day trip
I picked this from multiple options since it seemed to be the most relaxed and elaborate. And it was. Across all the sites we visited, I never got the sense of being hurried along or not having enough time to soak in the place. Our guide Aye was absolutely fantastic - extremely well informed, eager to engage, and obliged us by taking some great photos. Was also pleased to note that our diet (vegetarian) was accounted for when it came to lunch. An excellent tour overall. Highly recommended.

The treasures of Ayuthaya, Thailand’s original capital
Only an hour’s drive from Bangkok lies Ayutthaya, a vast complex of temples, palaces, stupa’s and magnificent Buddha’s some of them dating over 700 years old. The Unesco heritage site is unique and well preserved and deserving of an easy day trip. Our guide Aey was a fountain of knowledge on ancient Thai culture, informative, and most pleasant. Wow
Super interesting. We had a great tour guide. Pa. Super HOT day! Take a hat and drink lots of water. Started with phu khow thong pagoda. Hot climb up but worth the view. Then 3 pagodas. 8, 9, &10. Super interesting. Great photos. That was Wat prasrisanphet. Also saw Buddha images at wat Mahathat. Face in a tree. Then a huge gold Buddha at Ming Kon Bophit. No photos here and be sure to if you are female be prepared to have your knees and shoulders covered in respect. Buffet lunch was provided at a small local (hot) restaurant. Buy your own beverage. I couldn’t resist a tall cold coke which I NEVER drink at home. I can’t describe the heat! Be prepared but the history and ruins are incredible! Van was air conditioned!!! Phew!.

Ayutthaya tour
This was a fantastic tour option, it was worth the extra money. We opted out of visiting the Grand Palace to visit the ancient city of Ayutthaya. I definitely recommend doing this tour instead of the Grand Palace if you only have time for one. Our driver and our tour guide, Mrs. Aey were amazing! They were completely attentive, full of knowledge and very polite. We visited probably around 5-6 temples with numerous structures and things to see. Water was provided throughout the trip and we had a nice buffet lunch. Mrs. Aey even volunteered to take photos of us. The vehicle we toured in was very clean and new, and the drive was not bumpy and very comfortable.

My wife and I took a day tour with Gimao to Ayutthaya and had a wonderful time. Gimao did a fantastic job of coordinating the day, was a lovely conversationalist, and incredibly knowledgeable about Ayutthaya. Horrible Experience
I booked tour on 17 December for 28th December. This is a full day tour hence nothing else booked on this date which led to a waste for entire day because the operator did not respond on the day of activity. I won't recommend this tour at all and also avoid other tours from "MAM HOLIDAYS" . One more thing, this trip is booked via Viator so be aware they only have USA support number. I managed to get my refund in 2 hours via Tweeter. But my day is wasted.

Fantastic tour
My wife and I booked this tour at the last minute late at night and were so glad we did. The following morning we were met promptly at our hotel by our tour guide called Siri. She was a Thai lady who could communicate very well in English and was well organised and very pleasant. Following a 1 hour drive, which included a planned comfort break we visited all the key sites in Ayutthaya which were visually breathtaking. Throughout the day our tour guide Siri was very knowledgeable and informative and knew all the best spots for photo opportunities. The buffet lunch also provided was excellent with plenty of choice. Overall a fantastic tour not to be missed and our thanks to Siri for being so friendly and professional..

Great Day Out
My guide for the tour was Aey (nickname). Aey was very knowledgeable about all of the sites, thoughtful and kind. Her English was good but there were a few times during the tour when I asked Aey some questions and it was clear that she did not understand what I was asking. Aey checked with me frequently throughout the day to see if I was ok or if I needed a short break, and adjusted the pace as necessary. She took lots of pictures of me throughout the day which she emailed to me later. The first part of the tour was at Bang Pa-in summer palace. It was beautiful. Since I knew in advance that the grounds were quite extensive, at my request we rented a golf cart for 1 hour for 400 baht ($13). Our driver for our day tour drove the cart. He did a good job and we were able to see everything in 1 hour without rushing. The next part of the tour was Ayutthaya. I really enjoyed all of the sites. After a couple of sites we had a great buffet lunch in a nice hotel. Overall l, I really enjoyed the day. The only recommendation that I have to improve the tour would be for the driver to have a cooler in the car with ice and cold bottles of water for the passengers to drink throughout the day. This would help since it's so hot in Ayutthaya.

absolutely worth the time
Ayutthaya is some distance away. We got there by train, an extra experience. The main temples are impressive and the areas are crowded, even at this time of the year. We also visited an old one, with really no-one else there, no entrance gates, nothing. Trees were growing inside the walls etc. Some parts had collapsed, others likely to follow in the coming years. It reminded a lot old Roman ruins you find in Europe but these were still in a better shape. Here and there you saw people still came to worship in this temple. We spend quite a lot of time there. The guide was very flexible where to spend time or where to go quickly. Read more.

Great Trip and Guide
I had a great time on this trip! The itinerary was excellent. All of the places we visited were really interesting. The buffet lunch was great also, with many options to choose from. Beyond that, my tour guide Siri was fantastic! You are lucky if she travels with you. Beyond her knowledge of the various Bangkok temples, she is fascinating in her own right. She has traveled all over the world and has many stories to share for those who are interested. She also gave me several great suggestions for additional activities during my visit in Bangkok and even helped me book a reservation for the Siam Naramit show. Thanks Siri, and safe travels! Day away from the city
The sights were great and transportation was very prompt. Guide was very nice. Lunch at buffet was good. The only thing is I wish guide's English was a bit better as she didn't really understand questions that we would ask to be able to explain..

Bangkok Thailand: Miss Supatsara
The Mam Holiday Tour was amazing. Miss Supatsara was so knowledgeable on the history and gave great insight on both the culture and the landmarks. Sge even walked up the stairs of prayer and celebration. I must say it was extremely hot! And traditionally you must coverup, nevertheless, i had a great experience. Thank you Miss Supatsara..

Good Private Full Day Tour
We booked two private one day tours through Mam Holidays - one was the Private Ayutthaya Day Tour, the other was a private full day city tour of Bangkok. We were provided the same guide, Aey, for both days. The guide and driver arrived well ahead of schedule, both were extremely professional and extremely accommodating. They were very hospitable, provided lots of water and were more than willing to customize each day based upon some of our specific requests. We were able to accomplish all of the items on the proposed agenda that we were interested in. Aey was extremely sweet and delightful. With that said, her English had some limitations and she seemed to have a narrow repertoire of information that she could share, that she cycled back through several times. It was difficult to ask deeper questions or questions that took her "off script". Other than that, she was extremely kind, thoughtful, and truly worked hard both days to make sure we had a good experience, and her flexibility with our requests was greatly appreciated. A solid experience at a fair price.

Hot but inspiring
Hat, sunscreen and sunglasses are a must to enjoy your day. We especially enjoyed the summer palace and hearing the history of the ruins at Ayutthaya from our knowledgeable guide Ms A. We did have a little trouble understanding her soft voice, but she was more than willing to participate in our choices and level of activity in the high heat...

Fantastic private tour of Ayutthaya!
Bangkok in August is hot! Our guide, Aey (nickname), made it easy from the beginning. She guided us through some of the most amazing sites with easy to understand and detailed information of the temples, history and life and times of the Thai people. Added bonus is that she took pictures for us at strategic sites, gave us options for lunch (which was amazing), went at our pace, and was incredibly nice. She was as passionate and energetic at the end of the tour of Ayutthaya as she was in the beginning when she picked us up at our hotel. Our Driver was very courteous and safe! It was a fantastic tour and day for us.

Great Experience!
I was in Bangkok for business and had 1 free day. I decided to maximize my time and booked a private day tour to Ayutthaya. I was a little anxious because I was a lone traveler, but as soon as I met my guide Siri, my concerns were put to rest. She is such a people-person and she makes you comfortable from the start. It was like I was touring with a friend. She was very knowledgeable about the places we visited and answered any questions I had. I wanted to do some shopping along the way and she graciously made sure I had enough time to browse and shop. And the icing on the cake? She knows the best spots and poses for photographs! I had so much fun that day and was very impressed by the beauty of Ayutthaya. I would recommend Siri any time, any day!.

Amazing tour!! Fantastic tour guide!
This tour was phenomenal. Our tour guide Natchatya was fabulous. She took her time to show us all of the sites, stopping at the most picturesque places and taking photos for us. You could tell she was really passionate about her job. We learned a lot! One of the best tours we did on our trip to Thailan.

Private Ayutthaya Day Tour
We had a very nice day. We went in July, so it was quite hot and humid. We were picked up in a comfortable, air conditioned Toyota SUV. Our guide provided quite a bit of background and history at the Summer Palace. Ayutthaya was quite amazing and worth seeing. Both she and the driver were very accommodating and considerate. She took pictures for us and even sent some to us later, after the tour. I would definitely recommend this tour..

A Wonderful Change of Pace from the Busy Bangkok City
We had an amazing day with Gimao, our tour guide. She was lively, talkative and enthusiastic. We really enjoyed how peaceful the town was compared to Bangkok. If you have had enough time in Bangkok, this is a refreshing change of pace. Our lunch spot was delicious and very enjoyable. Overall, a really wonderful day with some beautiful history and culture. I would really recommend this tour and Gimao!!.

Perfect Day in Bangkok!!!
Highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Bangkok. Can not express how organized and engaging this Day trip from Bangkok was for me and my wife. Our guide, Miss Chutima Nawsoon, was amazing. Her knowledge of the area and personal touch made our trip! All points of interest were covered and because of our guide's knowledge we were really able to engage with the sites and gain a perspective that would have only been possible with the support of Miss Chutima Nawsoon.

Tour guide was great
Ae was very informative and very attentive. The temples were spectacular. After we were seated for lunch, but had not started, I asked if we could do 2 more temples before eating. (I had asked this before, but she didn't quite understand). I assured her it would be ok if we had lunch at that point, but she was very agreeable to doing 2 more temples and returning later. She and the driver also agreed to drop us off at a different hotel from where we were picked up, so that I could make a purchase. The tour itself was very uplifting and informative.

Private tour with Miss Siriwaritsara Petcharapan of old ruins at Ayutthaya.
An incredible tour of old Temple ruins of Ayutthaya with Miss Siri whom was an incredible guide, knowledgeable, very energetic & personable, friendly and an overall excellent tour guide. The ruins were a sight to see in contrast to the new Bangkok at the Grand Palace. I would recommended this with Miss Siri to everyone.

Incredible ruins.
My husband and I recently travelled to Bangkok for five days. After a few days of visiting temples and historical sites in Bangkok we did a day trip to the Ayutthaya, a UNESCO world site and one of the previous capitals of Siam. Aey and Mr. Sulin from MAM Holidays were amazing. Aey shared her wealth of knowledge with us while Mr. Sulin ensured we travelled safely to and from our destination. Seeing the remains of the temples left after the wars with the Burmese was truly amazing. In particular, the highlights included the Reclining Buddha, the Royal Palace with its magnificent stupas and the Wat Mahathat temple grounds with the infamous Buddha head tangled in the roots of a body tree. I would definitely recommend a day trip to Ayutthaya and MAM Holiday Tours. Ask for Aey.

This tour is great for history buffs visiting Thailand. We spent the day getting into the history of the Ayutthaya and the guide made it all the more interesting with her subject knowledge. Beautiful sites!
Our guide, Siri, provided a great tour of Ayutthaya's key historical spots. Siri was very knowledgeable about each of the temples and sites visited, and even helped point out the best places for photos! Highly recommended, but come prepared with walking shoes, long pants and cover ups for the temples and Summer Palace. (Long pants are required for women AND men.

The whole package of adventure
We had the most amazing time with Aey and Mr. Sulin. They came and picked us up from our hotel exactly 8am and made sure we are dressed appropriately for the temples. No tattered jeans, dress should be below knee level, shirt/blouse covering shoulder, no shorts and please use comfortable shoes you would want to hike on and walk on for endless miles. We started the trip getting out from office hour/ school day traffic on the busy streets of Bangkok. Aey was extremely knowledgeable and answered every question we had. She made sure we were always comfortable. We had lunch at a buffet which was a good Thai selection. After which we took a side trip to the floating market of Ayutthaya which turned out to be the most unexpected memorable cultural experience we would have of this trip. We did the boat ride then soon after the rain poured like a tropical thunderstorm would while we were still at the market. Our spirits didn’t get dampened only our shoes and clothes but it dries very quickly. Aey brought us umbrellas and we continued to explore the food, elephants, souvenirs and the people at the floating market. They all happily indulged is their bargains, cooking and food samples. My family loved it. After the rain stopped we went to see the last 3 temples on the itinerary. It was a lot of hike to the steep brick/stone steps to the top of the temples and pagodas but it was all worth it. It all ended with day with big smiles, hugs and an excellent Thai experience which will always be one for the books💞.

Memorable tour of beautiful historical site
We visited Ayutthaya on April 29, 2019. The driver and guide were very punctual and picked us up from the lobby of our hotel, which was very nice, since our hotel was located on the other side of the Chayo Praya river. Our guide for the day was Supatsara Wonghong. She was very kind, and had good knowledge about the history of the site. The tour was designed in a way as to not be overhwelming, because staying outside for long periods of time in the 39 degree heat, which certaintly felt hotter with the humidity, would have been unbearable. First we visited the summer palace, and strolled through the beautiful grounds. We had a nice buffet lunch in an air conditioned restaurant. Then we visited some of the main temples and saw the Budha head in the tree, the reclining Budha etc. The ruins were spectacular. I especailly liked the Khmer architecture.Since the complex is very large, we would drive in our air conditioned car from one temple complex to the next. There was enough time to listen to Supatsara's explanation of what we were seeing and to take pictures. After each temple visit, the driver would offer us a cold bottle of water, which was always welcome in the extreme heat. We told Supatsara that we did not have enough time to visit the Damnoen Saduak floating market, so at the end of the tour, since there was enough time, she offered to take us to the Ayutthaya floating market. This was a lovely unexpected surprise for us. We bought a couple of things at very reasonable prices. Overall I really enjoyed the tour. We never felt rushed and the driver and guide were very pleasant and attentive to our needs. A few tips: please remember to wear respectable clothing when entering functional temples (same dress code as the Grand Palace except there are no people strictly enforcing this). Its a way of showing respect to the local people and their traditions and helps to protect you from the blazing sun. Due to excessive sweating, unless constantly reapplied, sunscreen would have been useless for us. I wore thin cotton pants and a thin cotton top which covered my elbows. I was sweating like crazy but got no sunburn. Also, for any functional temples, bring a pair of socks if you dont want to walk in barefoot. Other things to bring: hat, sunscreen, some cash for sourenirs, some tissue paper in case you need the bathroom and they have none. Supatsara took several photos of us with her cell phone and emailed us to us promlty which was appreciated. Ovell we loved the tour.

Overpriced private tour for couple
We are disappointed with the tour, as we expected a proper English speaking tour guide willing to share information about the sites that we were taken. What we get was more of a private taxi tour. Given the price we paid for this private tour for two (326 USD), it was not worth it for us. If we would have taken taxis or rent a car with driver for the day, we would have paid around a third. Keep in mind, the food and tickets are quite cheap, for two people it did not cost more than 25-30 USD. Please note, the company has cheaper prices on the website. At the moment the same tour with MAM Holidays on their site costs around 260 USD for two. The guide woman was nice, she tried to do her best (more or less), but the English level was quite poor. Maybe a bit too much to expect in Thailand?! The sites are nice, but this tour is way too expensive for what it advertises.

You HAVE to do this tour!
The energetic, enlightened and fabulous Siri was our guide for the day and not unlike Apple's Siri, she had all the answers! She took us through Ayutthaya and knew ALL the BEST photo spots. She was patient when we wanted a little bit of time to look closer at things that interested us. The driver was lovely; not "herky-jerky" and provided a smooth trip there and back from Bangkok. Ayutthaya is a MUST do for a Thailand visit. The remnants of the 2nd capital city are full of history and wonder. I can't even imagine what this place looked like in all its glory.

Ayutthaya Day Trip
We had a shortened version of the trip without the river cruise. I think this was because of the coronation and cancellation of our booked trip. Our guide was very helpful and knowledgeable and she made our day very enjoyable. The temples and ruins of Ayutthaya were quite amazing and well worth the trip. Our only negative was that our guide’s English was, in places, a little deficient but still satisfactory. We would recommend this tour..

Day trip back in time
There is not doubt that some of the sites visited are amazing. So much hidden history it is hard to take it all in. Our trip however was marred by a poor guide who was mostly disinterested and scant on any substance with respect to information. Perfect Day in Ayutthaya
My husband and I had a lovely time with our guide, Miss Siriwaritsara Petcharapan, going to various sites around Ayutthaya. We're backpackers, trying to travel on a dime, but this tour was definitely worth the splurge! We felt so overwhelmed deciding which sites to visit and figuring out how to get to them that this was the best option for us. This tour took all the guessing games, time, and energy out of it. Siri and our driver picked us up at our hotel and spent the morning and afternoon taking us from site to site. Lunch was also excellent at a nice buffet spot, seemingly for tourists. Siri had excellent English language proficiency (I'm an English teacher, so I should know!) and a great passion for travel and tourism. She was a wonderful guide and photographer!..

Wonderful tour of Ayutthaya!
Our tour guide was fantastic and this tour was very interesting. Our guide was friendly, funny and informative. The only down side of this tour was that we briefly stopped to feed some Elephants. I love Elephants and it was very upsetting to see how distressed one of the elephants was and how poorly treated the Elephants were in Thailand. I would recommend the tour company supports the more ethical opportunities for tourists to interact with Elephants, such as one of the many sanctuaries that rescue abused Elephants.

Disappointed with the day
Hours in the car for one hour total of longtail speed boat and 600 for the row boat. We paddled through one canal. I asked to go to the boats selling food but he took us to the souvenir sellers. I would recommend making your own way there and going to other water markets that are not the 'tourist rip off' that this one is. Very disappointed with cost and experience.

Great Tour Guide, Lousy Vehicle
My husband and I took a private Tour to Ayutthaya from Bangkok. Our tour guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well. However, the vehicle that was used was quite bad. We are used to having comfortable SUVs or minivans or even comfortable sedans when taking a private Tour. This car was small, cramped and uncomfortable with no separate air conditioning in the back. It was a very hot day and while the driver and guide were cold in the front, we were quite hot in the back, despite many requests to raise the air conditioning fan. This unfortunately tainted the trip since we felt we had paid quite a bit to have a premium experience. Word of warning: confirm the kind of car that will be used. Read less.

The Heat of Ayutthaya
After about ten days in Thailand, my husband and I felt we were lacking in knowledge of the history of the country. So we ended our visit with a tour of Ayutthaya. We opted for a private tour, because we wanted the freedom to pepper our guide with questions about the history of Thailand, the culture of Thailand and Ayutthaya. And I can confirm we learned more about the history and culture of Thailand in our one day tour than we did in the previous nine days. And finally got some of our questions answered! Our wonderful guide picked us up directly from our hotel (on time) and took us out to the Summer Palace. (Make sure that you are appropriately dressed for this - similar to the Grand Palace - shawls are not enough - must wear shirt with sleeves) and then gave us a brief tour of the palace along with some history, focusing on King Rama V. It's a very interesting place with a mix of architectural styles - you can tell King Rama V was very interested in different cultures. We then popped over to the first temple in Ayutthaya, which is still functioning, got some lovely pictures and then off to lunch. Lunch is a massive buffet lunch that features Thai food and international food. You will NOT leave hungry. After lunch, we visited four spots in the Ayutthaya Historical District and learned about the conflicts between Burma and Siam that led to the ultimate destruction of Ayutthaya and the kingdom's move to Bangkok after that. Seeing the destruction of all of those Buddhas, lacking heads and sometimes torsos, was, well I cannot find the right adjective, but let's say impactful. Our guide was lovely and mothered us (making sure we drank enough liquids and rested in the shade) as she shared her stories and taught us about Thai history as well as a bit about Thai Buddhism. Other than the heat (it's hotter inland - be prepared!), we had a wonderful time! Read more.

My friend and I both had a wonderful time on this tour. We got to see a lot of tour sites and had plenty of time at each place. With the private tour, we were able to have that personal one-on-one interaction and attention. We learned a lot about the history of each site, and it was obvious our tour guide was very informed. We bought the tour to see something interesting and historical near the Bangkok. Our guide Ms Supatsara Wonghong had great knowledge of the Ayutthaya city and spoke English well. Great Family-Friendly Private Tour
My family and I were so pleased with our private tour of Ayutthaya. We were nervous to book a private tour, but glad we did it, especially with MAM Holidays. We were greeted at our hotel by our guide, Miss Khun Aey, about 5 minutes prior to our departure time, which was good because we had to round up 11 of us, ranging in age from 5 years old to over 70. Along the ride out of Bangkok she gave us as much information as we could process about Bangkok, the royal family and the general history of Thailand. Once in Ayutthaya, we made our way around some of the more famous/popular temples - Summer Palace, saw the Reclining Buddha and much more. Miss Khun Aey gave us an option of a traditional Thai restaurant or a buffet. We chose the buffet because of the number of people in our group. The buffet was great and satisfied even the most pickiest of eater. We made a couple more stops in the afternoon to the older temples and then returned to Bangkok right on time. Miss Khun Aey made sure everyone was hydrated with water, kept us safely together and answered all of our questions. The van was in great condition with air conditioning and plenty of room for us all. I highly recommend this private tour to anyone who wants to venture up to Ayutthaya for the day!..

Outstanding Tour w/an outstanding guide and driver!
We were picked-up promptly at our hotel lobby and had a safe and sane drive (almost 2-hours through Bangkok traffic) to Ayutthaya. Miss Supatsara Wonghong (Khun Aey) was our guide and she was truly outstanding. She shared history of Thailand and Ayutthaya on the drive up and never left our side during our visit to the Summer Palace and Wat Yai Chiamongkhon in the morning. We chose ala carte lunch which was wonderful and the tour provided at a local, Ayutthaya restaurant. After lunch, we visited two other temples and were told their history and importance in Thai history. The drive home was equally relaxed and we were dropped-off at our hotel at the time promised. Thank you Mr. Suan Lin (sp?) for getting us there and back smoothly and calmly. Bottomline - highly recommend this tour, guide, driver and tour agency for providing top quality. We would use them again.

Excellent Tour and a Welcome break from the Hustle & Bustle of Bangkok
We booked the full day private tour of Ayuthaya from Bangkok and were not disappointed. We were met at our hotel by our guide Khun Aey and driver exactly on time and we set of North towards the ancient capitol. Aey was very friendly and chatted to us on the way there about what where we would be going and a little of the history. As a previous review has mentioned the order of locations visited is not as the written itinerary, but this did not detract from the tour. we started at the Summer Palace which was a real oasis of calm after Bangkok. We then went on to a succesion of temple and palace ruins which were really impressive, and quiet enough to get some great photos with no other tourists in the background. The lunch stop is of good quality, at a smart hotel with a lunch buffet of mainly Thai food but also some other bits and pieces with plenty of choice overall. This was included in the tour price (although drinks are not). We did this tour with 2 children, aged 12 and 10 who found it all really interesting, with a suitable wow factor at some of the larger ruins and a very big Buddha statue. I would thoroughly recommend this tour as a break from the crowds and heat of Bangkok - it was still hot, of course, but jumping back into our cool, air conditioned, car after each location was a welcome break. Aey was a great guide, her English is not perfect and sometimes she did not understand our questions, but we always got there in the end and she was attentive enough to stop and buy cold drinks at a couple of locations when she saw that the children were flagging in the heat..

A humbling Experience
We had got into a taxi at the hotel, and the driver Mr Wandi, tailor made a tour for us. We got to see all the temples, and flea markets and he even recommended and took us to malls, which he thought would interest us for local shopping. Mr Wandi was so awesome, he waited at each stop for us as he said he would and his was so reasonable. He arranged a taxi for us to the airport the next day as he was not available. He was just so kind and went beyond his duty as a taxi driver to make our time in Bangkok memorable. We found the people extremely helpful and so willing to help. Thoroughly enjoyed our trip.

Excellent tour - Excellent value
My wife and I were in Bangkok for about 4 days and in an effort to learn more about the history of Siam/Thailand, I booked a private tour of Ayutthaya through MAM Holidays - Thailand. For those who don’t know, Ayutthaya is the ancient capital of Thailand (when it was still Siam) and remained the capital city from approximately 1351 to 1767. The former capital (which was largely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767) is located about an hour north of Bangkok and although the sites are basically a spread-out set of ruins, the ruins are extremely beautiful and provide an entertaining and educational day out of Bangkok. PLEASE NOTE – Despite my initial belief to the contrary, the ancient capital is NOT just a bunch of ruins out in the middle of nowhere. The “modern” city of Ayutthaya has grown up all around the ancient ruins and without a map or a good guide, I can see where it might be difficult to locate or visit the various sites. I, for one, was VERY thankful I chose to book a tour to get us to the sites and show us around. Booking/Value: The booking process was exceptionally easy. The company’s website was easy to navigate and did a good job providing prospective patrons with a list of the available tours, a general narrative of what to expect on each tour and a clear statement of the cost of the tour (which is generally dependent on the number of persons who will be going on the tour). The full-day Ayutthaya package that I booked for my wife and I included (i) our tour guide, (ii) our driver, (iii) the entry fees to each of the locations we visited and (iv) lunch. After booking, I received an e-mail from the company confirming the booking and giving us a general itinerary of the tour. I found the overall cost of the package to be very reasonable and found it to be a great value in light of the fact that it was an all-day, guided, private tour that included our lunch and all of the entry fees for the sites visited. Tour Guide: While I am sure that MAM Holidays has multiple tour guides for each of their excursions, for our full-day tour of Ayutthaya we were paired up with SaSa. My wife and I enjoyed spending the day with SaSa and found her to be funny, personable, and fully dedicated to making certain that we had a fantastic experience. She was well versed in Thai culture and history and she did an excellent job giving my wife and I a new appreciation for the Thai people. SaSa is a native of Thailand, but her English was good and we had very little trouble understanding her as she was talking to us during the course of the day. Despite this, she was very sensitive to the language issue and would often check with us to make certain that we understood what she was saying. In addition to her overall knowledge of Thai history and culture, SaSa was also very knowledgeable about the former capital of Ayutthaya and the various sites that we visited. To be frank, I knew virtually nothing about Thai history or the history of Ayutthaya prior to our tour, but SaSa did an excellent job explaining the significance of each place that we visited and was able to provide us with stories and anecdotes at each site. She was more than willing to take photographs of my wife and I at the various sites and was a particularly valuable resource for making certain that we did not commit any cultural faux pas as we visited the various ruins and temples. In short, my wife and I both found SaSa to be a wonderful guide. We thoroughly enjoyed our day with her and would not hesitate to take another tour with her. The Tour: The structure of the tour itself was excellent. My wife and I were picked up promptly at the scheduled time and transported from Bangkok to Ayutthaya in an SUV. The driver of the SUV was not our tour guide, but our tour guide did ride in the vehicle with us from the beginning of the trip to the end. The trip to and from Ayutthaya was smooth, safe and uneventful because the driver did such a great job getting us to and from all of the locations we visited. We engaged in conversation with our tour guide for most of the trip both to and from Ayutthaya, during which time she provided us a great deal of information about Thai history and culture as well as modern Thailand. During the day, we visited each of the sites that were listed on the website summary although we did deviate somewhat from the itinerary by going to the Bang Pa-In Palace first. SaSa was able to give us as much time at each of the sites as we wanted to spend and we never felt as though we were being rushed. We took a ton of pictures and had ample time to shop or take short water or bathroom breaks if/when we needed them. Throughout the course of the day we visited: The Bang Pa-In Palace – This royal residence is located outside of the Ayutthaya historic district but is an excellent place to visit nonetheless. The gardens and grounds were immaculately manicured and there were plenty of opportunities for photographs – particularly with the elephant shaped shrubbery. Wat Phra Si Sanphet and Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit – These ruins of the former royal palace and holy site still contain three (mostly) intact Chedis which contain(ed) the remains of several former kings of Siam/Thailand. Vihara Phra Mongkhon Bophit (which is right next door) contains a huge gold statue of Buddha that has an interesting story to go with it. Wat Mahathat – This was my personal favorite of the sites we visited. Yes, the Buddha head encased in the tree roots is very cool and a great photo-op, but I was far more impressed by the expanse of ruins and the overall feeling of the place. Walking through the ruins, it was hard not to feel impressed, inspired and a little bit sad all at the same time. Wat Yai Chai Mang Khon – This site contains a HUGE Chedi that was partially draped in gold cloth at the time of our visit as well as a large number of Buddha statues (of which many were also draped in gold cloth). The ruins of this site were extremely beautiful and the very large reclining Buddha statue located on site is impressive (although not as impressive as the reclining Buddha in Wat Po). Lunch: I have to admit that I do not remember the name of the location where we stopped for lunch. What I can say is that (i) the cost of the lunch was included with the price of the tour, (ii) the location at which we stopped was a very clean and attractive buffet, (iii) that the buffet had a good number of food options from which to choose and; (iv) the food itself was of good quality. My wife and I both had a great lunch. Summary: The full-day tour of Ayutthaya provided by MAM Holiday’s – Thailand was a great tour, with a great tour guide at a very reasonable price. My wife and I went to Thailand not really knowing what to expect or what we were going to see and this tour more than met our expectations. I walked away from the tour with a greater appreciation of Thai history and culture and I am thankful for the experience. I would not hesitate to book another tour with MAM Holidays...

The only way to see Ayutthaya is with a guide and driver. The city is very expansive and without a guide it would be overwhelming. Rose spoke excellent English and was able to shepherd us through the archeology, provide spiritual context, explain the history of who built the city as well as the stories of many invasions. We covered many areas and each was more beautiful than the one before. I should also mention the amazing buffet lunch. It was an extraordinary day made meaningful with the help of our guide and driver. As I said at the beginning, this is the only way to visit Ayutthaya...

firstly about the company - this was the 3rd time i used Mam Holidays Ltd for a tour in Bangkok. Very professional and prompt. . The cars are very comfortable, driver is good and guides knowledgeable. After visiting over 60 countries and doing tours in most, i have found the best guides are passionate about their country/city, and the guides that work for Mam Holidays Ltd certainly are, especially the lady that i've had as a tour guide twice Miss Supatsara Wonghong Khun Aey. As far as the sites go, if you like temples and palaces this is a must from Bangkok. I've included some pics so you know what you will see...

We had the best time with Aey in Ayutthaya -- wonderful service where she and her driver picked us up from our hotel in Bangkok and embarked on a day long trip in Ayutthaya. First we saw the summer palace and then we visited three Wats, in addition to picking up lunch. Because my mother was not feeling well, Aey was very considerate about the amount of walking, and also arranged for a vegetarian meal for lunch not easy in Thailand!. Aey was also easy to understand, and she also played the role of our photographer during the tour. Highly recommended, and extremely good value for the price...

We all had a great time during our Ayutthaya Private Tour. Our guide Ms. Khun Aey made our experience wonderful with all her knowledge and patience to the questions of my mother. She provided us with all our needs and guided us very well. of all the places we have been for me, The Summer Palace was the best and the most cozy with rich history. The lunch they provided was great and with different choices of Thai Food. Ms Khun Aey went out of her way to buy fruits that my mom requested and she gave it as a gift. I thank her so much for the kindness and help. She was a great guide and a friend...

So happy that we booked this tour! Our Guide Khun Aey was FABULOUS! She is much organized, knowledgeable and personable... The best tour we have joined so far. I highly recommend this tour to learn more about the Ancient capital of Thailand. There were a total of 5 stops, so a lot to see, but so happy we did see what we did. The highlights were definitely Wat Mahathat, Wat Phra Sri Sanphet and Bang Pa-In Royal Palace. The lunch at Wat Phra Sri Sanphet was really good too! If you wish to learn more about Ayutthaya then this is a must do tour.

This trip was the highlight of my time in Bangkok. The tour guide, Khun Aey, was wonderful, knowledgeable, and always ready to snap individual pictures for everyone in the group whenever there was a good photo opportunity. It was wonderful to get outside of Bangkok for a day and take in some of the countryside. We stopped first at the summer palace, then at Ayutthaya ruins, then another temple, and finally at the huge reclining Buddha. We saw so much and enjoyed the day immensely. I have recommended this tour already to all my travelling friends.
